Dei Mille: Reviews & Ratings
Good portion of gelato. Pricy but that was expected for that place. You can mix two flavors. We had panna cotta, coffee and pistachio, house special (that one was unexpectedly spicy, dunno why as the ingredients didn’t imply that)
Tasty pastries, nice play to sit and watch people walking around. Weitress should be more friendly.
Pleasantly surprised by the gelato. Strong flavors that are also creamy. The blackberry, lemon, Papaya and strawberrry were delicious. We wanted to go back for seconds.

Nestled in the heart of Bergamo at Piazza Vecchia, Dei Mille is a charming spot that promises a genuine taste of Italian gelato and pastries. This quaint establishment offers a pleasant terrace by the fountain, making it an ideal place to pause and enjoy the bustling square. The gelato here draws particular praise for its strong, creamy flavors—favorites like pistachio, panna cotta, coffee, and the surprisingly spicy house special showcase bold flavor profiles that linger on the palate. The texture is smooth, though some find the pistachio a touch sweeter than expected, lacking the usual nutty depth.
Beyond gelato, Dei Mille shines with traditional Bergamo specialties such as “Polenta e Osei,” appreciated for its delicate sweetness and soft texture—offering an authentic regional treat worth exploring. Pastries here are flavorful and inviting, making them a delightful complement to the refreshing gelato or a quick pizza bite. The beverage selection, both hot and cold, pairs seamlessly with these offerings, rounding out the experience.
While the self-service model and relaxed terrace encourage a casual ambiance, some guests note that the staff could benefit from warmer hospitality to elevate the overall experience. Regardless, Dei Mille remains a go-to destination for those seeking quality, essence, and a touch of local tradition in every scoop and slice.
